Curio

For parents

YouTube with only the channels you trust.

Curio shows your child videos from the channels you approve, and nothing else. Search, recommendations, comments and Shorts stay switched off unless you turn them on.

APK · version 0.2.0 · about 4 MB · Android 6.0 or newer

How it works

1

You pick the channels

Open Parent controls with your PIN, paste a channel link or @handle, and approve it. Remove any channel with one tap.

2

Your child sees only those

The home feed lists the latest videos from approved channels. Videos from anywhere else don't appear.

3

No rabbit holes

After a video, suggestions come only from the same channel. Autoplay is off by default and never leaves the channel.

4

You set the rules

Block search, hide comments, hide Shorts, allow autoplay. Parent controls lock again after two minutes.

Install on Android

  1. Download the APK using the button above, on your Android phone or tablet.
  2. Open the file from your notifications or the Downloads folder.
  3. Allow the install. Android asks you to let your browser or file manager install apps. Allow it for this install.
  4. Open Curio and go to Parent. The starting PIN is 1234; change it first.

Updates: from version 0.2.0, Curio checks for new versions by itself, notifies you, and downloads the update. You tap Install to finish. You can also check any time in Parent › App updates.

Curio isn't on Google Play yet, so Android shows a warning for apps from outside the store. On iPhone or a computer, use the web app.
